Who we are

Black Star Casinos

An odds desk. This publication exists because the thing a bookmaker charges is the thing almost nobody publishes, and because a market where every comparison site sorts by welcome offer is a market where the actual cost of betting is invisible.

What this site has not done

Nobody here has moved money through any of these accounts. No deposit has been made, no slip has been placed and no withdrawal has been timed with a stopwatch. Every withdrawal figure on this site is the one the bookmaker states about itself, and it is described that way everywhere it appears.

That distinction is not pedantry. Two other publications covering this market shipped straplines describing a testing operation nobody had run, and both had to be rewritten after the fact. A claim about your own method is the easiest thing on a site to get wrong and the hardest for a reader to check.

What it has done

Computed a margin from published three-way football prices for eight of the thirteen bookmakers trading here, recorded what each figure rests on, graded them by how far they can be compared with each other, and refused to rank the rest. The sharpest figure on the board is 4.21% and the widest is 8.98%, and both need reading with their sample.

Read the terms of every operator in this market for the clauses that let a bookmaker cut a winning account, graded those too, and carried the counterweight beside every grade, because a drafted power is not a record of behaviour.

How this site earns, and what that does not buy

Some links here pay a commission when a reader opens an account. That is the whole commercial model and there is nothing else behind it: no operator has paid for a position, no operator has been offered one, and no operator sees this site before it publishes.

The reason a reader can check that rather than take it on faith is the arithmetic. Every input to the board is a published fact from the shared fact base, the weights are declared on the method page before the scoring runs, and every criterion for every book is printed beside the result. A different ordering would need different facts, not a different arrangement with somebody.

The clearest evidence is on the page about books with no price on file. The highest-scoring record in this whole market on everything else this model can read is not on the board at all, because its price is unknown. A site selling positions would not have built a rule that excludes its own strongest candidate.

Corrections

Everything here is computed rather than typed, which is a correction policy of a kind: a figure in prose cannot be re-derived when the data behind it changes, so this site does not put figures in prose that a template could compute. Eight review pages elsewhere in this project were caught stating ranks their own tables contradicted, and that is the failure this rule exists to prevent.

Where the source material asked for a claim the data could not support, the claim was not made. This publication's own brief carried a figure for how much better a sharp price is than a wide one, and nothing in the fact base supports it, so the strapline makes the argument without a number and the real spread is computed on the board where a reader can see what it rests on.

Questions this page gets asked

Have you placed these bets?

No. Every price on this site is one the bookmaker published, read on a stated date. No account here belongs to this desk, nothing has been deposited, and no withdrawal has been timed.

How does this site make money?

Some of the links to bookmakers pay a commission when an account is opened. None of them affects the ordering: every input to the board is a published fact and the weights are declared before the scoring runs.

Why so few bookmakers?

A board about price only ranks books whose price we could compute from published odds. A casino has no price to compare, and a book that publishes none cannot be judged on it. five brands trading here are excluded by it and every one has a page explaining which of two reasons applies.

What would change your mind about a bookmaker?

A margin measured on the same footing as the rest, for the ones with no price on file. For the ones on the board, a fresh reading: prices move, and a figure carries its reading date on this site precisely so it can be argued with when it goes stale.
